Match Pit close season - Feedback request from our Club Secretary Dave Mullet.
Gents,
We have finally reached approval from Lafarge Aggregates so that we can alter the close season on The Match Pit.
It has been known for some time that the large Carp in the pit breed later than the current season allows. Therefore it is not uncommon to see fish caught heavy in spawn.
As we want to preserve our stock and see it grow from native fish their welfare is paramount.
I am therefore asking for your thoughts on how we should adjust the current season to one that suits the fish?
It has been suggested that we close the water JUNE AND JULY. This will of course mean that we get an extra months fishing. We can finish at the end of May.
On another note to keep you informed. We are altering how we process your membership. This will effect your membership so that it will effectively END ON March 15th. After that date you will cease to be a member. To carry on fishing on waters that are open you must rejoin ASAP after the 15th March. This will also help us police the waters. As no one will be fishing without their licence.
Please let me have your thoughts on the new close season for the Match Pit ASAP.

Club Rules

Please note that unauthorised wading will result in suspension or expulsion from the club. This particularly applies to the Match Pit which is part of a working quarry. If you have equipment stuck in a tree etc. contact the bailiffs who will help organise safe removal/recovery.

We have a number of members who have pleaded ignorance when brought before the Committee. All members have a Rule Book.

Please read it!

Access to Waters

We have been asked by landowners to ensure that the access to the waters is secured at all times.
Please do not leave any gates unlocked once you have passed through.
